How Avstarna can save you up to 2 employees

This is an article from our own editorial staff

Let us start with the number, because we know it sounds big: up to two employees. That does not mean anyone loses their job. It means the hours your team spends on repeat work can add up to about two full-time positions, and those hours can go back to the things that actually grow your business.

It depends on your size and on how much is still on paper today. A factory with ten people and a lot of handwork will feel it more than one that is already well organised. We would rather be honest about that than promise a magic number.

Where the hours go

Think about a normal day in your factory. Then think about how much of it is not making food.

  • Retyping orders. An order comes in by mail, phone or webshop and someone types it into another place. In Avstarna an order is entered once, wherever it came from.
  • Making picking lists and packing slips. The packing slip writes itself from what was actually scanned into the box.
  • Invoices. No more Friday evening with a pile of paper. The invoice follows the delivery and can be sent automatically.
  • Product specifications and allergen information. They live on the product itself, so when a customer asks, you do not start searching through folders.
  • Stock. Scanning on the floor keeps the numbers current, so nobody has to walk the shelves just to answer "do we still have this?"

None of these tasks is hard. They are just many, and they repeat every day. That is exactly where the hours disappear.

An NVWA check becomes less scary

Almost every food producer knows the feeling when an inspector shows up. The question is rarely about your product. It is about whether you can show your paperwork, fast.

When your specifications, allergen information and traceability are in order and you can find them in seconds, an inspection feels very different. You open the batch, you show where the ingredients came from and where the products went. Calm, clear, done.

To be clear, no software can promise you pass an inspection. But having everything organised in one place takes away most of the stress. Soon Dian will write a separate post about what an NVWA inspection looks like from the inside. We will link it here as soon as it is online.

What is coming next

We build Avstarna in the open, so you can see where we are going. Here is our roadmap in plain words. You can find the full version on our roadmap page.

Already working today

  • A webshop where your business customers order at their own prices.
  • Receiving goods with barcodes or QR labels, and picking with a handheld scanner.
  • Stock per batch, including expiry dates.
  • Digital packing slips, a signature on delivery, and automatic invoices and credit notes.
  • A link with your bookkeeping software.
  • Safety data sheets on the product.
  • A portal where customers can find their own documents, so they stop calling you for them.
  • Logistic planning for driver to deliver and collect signatures.

Being built right now

  • Delivery routes that make sense, so your drivers lose less time on the road.
  • Insight into margin, turnover and how fast orders get picked, so you see where the money goes.
  • Ordering from suppliers and knowing what is on its way.
  • Production and assembly runs, planned in the same place as the rest.

Coming after that

  • A forecast of what customers will order, based on what they ordered before.
  • Suggestions for when to reorder, so you never run out of key ingredients.
  • Support for more than one warehouse or company.
  • An open connection for the systems your customers use.

We do not put dates on all of this, because things change when real customers give feedback. What we can promise is that we build what helps manufacturers in their daily work, not what looks good in a brochure.
